If cash is king, especially in times of economic turbulence, four St. Louis companies deserve to wear a crown. Emerson Electric Co., Monsanto Co., MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. and Amdocs Ltd. each have amassed substantially more than $1 billion. That should provide some comfort to worried investors — the more cash a company has, the less dependent it is on others for capital.
